Welcome to my blog. I am Emilia and today I will tell you how I love to relax after work. There is nothing better than chatting with girls and exercising in the fresh air. If, like me, you’ve recently moved, or you just don’t know what the best places to walk are, you may be wondering where to go. I’ll show you how to find the best spots.

How to search?
Usually, when I come back home, I search the Internet for general information such as: nice places near me, interesting places near me, where to go for a walk. You can also look for the location, in this case: Derby what to do, Nottingham what to do, what to see in Derby, what to see in Nottingham. I recommend that you try to search by travel style, for example Castles in England, the top 10 places to visit in Derbyshire. Below I will show you my search effect and a review from this place 🙂

Elvaston Castle Park
There are many hidden gems in the UK. One of them is definitely Elvaston Castle Park. Hidden in Derbyshire near Derby and Nottingham in central England. The Elvaston Estate is characterized by woodlands and washlands, full of wildlife (especially birds), as well as carefully designed gardens, and in the heart of this scenery is the Gothic Elvaston Castle, which impresses with its architecture. All this means that everyone will find something for themselves.

What to do?
Elvaston Castle Park is the perfect place to go for a walk with your dog, friend, family or for a date with a loved one. Horse riding and cycling are other popular activities. You will meet runners, children and seniors here. Here you will find shelter from the sun under the shade of very old trees, and plenty of open space to have a picnic in the grass. If you are a photography fan, this place will be perfect for you. Art lovers will also be delighted. There are wood sculptures in the park which are absolutely beautiful. At the back of the castle there is a small shop where you can buy ice cream, drinks and fridge magnets as a souvenir of your visit. 🙂 There are toilets in the park, so feel free to spend the entire day here.

Location and transportation
There are no bus services that stop directly outside the main entrance to the park. However, bus 73 (Arriva) and the Skylink Derby (TrentBarton) both stop by Elvaston Castle Gates in Thulston. From where there is a walking path 10 minutes to the park, 15 minutes to the castle inside the park. The exact address Elvaston Castle Country Park, Derby DE72 3EP
Entry and car park
Entry to the park is free, only the parking fee has to be paid. Parking machines accept coins, payment cards and contactless payments. An example fee for a motorbike or a car is £ 1.60 for 2 hours or £ 4.80 for a full day. The parking lot is marked on the Google map I share in the post.

When to visit
The park is open all year round. Opening hours from 1 November to 31 March from 9 am to 5 pm and from 1 April to 31 October from 9 am to 8 pm. I do not recommend visiting the park in bad weather, as the castle is not open to the public, so you cannot shelter from the rain. Becarefull after rain. The property is low lying and the paths can get muddy , make sure you have the right footwear.

It was a beautiful sunny day in great company. My smartwatch counted about 15,000 steps, so I count the trip as a cardio training 🙂 I definitely recommend Elvaston Castle park. I was especially fascinated by the wood carvings. Let me know if you are going to visit this place and how you liked it. If you like the pictures and wish to see more, check out my instagram below.
